FBI Seizes $100K in NFTs from Scammer
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has seized 86.5 Ether ETH and two nonfungible tokens (NFTs) worth more than $100,000 from an alleged phishing scammer following ZachXBT’s investigation in September 2022. The seized property included a Bored Ape Yacht Club and Doodles NFT, 85.6 Ether, as well as a flashy Audemars Piguet watch which ultimately helped ZachXBT identify the alleged scammer.
ZachXBT Investigation
The FBI’s official notification on Feb 3 outlined that the accused scammer Chase Senecal — known as Horror (HZ) online — had his property seized for federal forfeiture for violation of federal law on Oct 24, 2022. The seized NFTs were valued at $95495 and $9361 respectively at the time of seizure while the 86.5 ETH was valued at $116 433 but is now worth over $144 000.. It is unclear what legal proceedings have taken place against Senecal at this stage yet it appears that federal forfeiture was used to remove ownership of items involved with crime without compensation to the individual in question.
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Watch
The confiscated property also included an expensive Audemars Piguet royal oak watch worth 41 000 USD which was part of Senecal’s assets prior to his arrest.. It is likely that this item will be auctioned off by the US government in order to recover some of their losses incurred during this case although no further information has been provided regarding this matter thus far..

He is also thought to have perpetrated various other cybercrimes due to his involvement with cryptocurrency phishing scams which resulted in many victims being defrauded out of their money or digital assets..
